Home Away from Home: Why is this important for the Business Traveller?
When I travel for business, finding serviced accommodation that feels like home away from home, can significantly improve my productivity and overall well-being. Personally, I prefer apartments to hotels as they tend to offer more space and amenities – having a fully kitted kitchen, not only gives my freedom but also helps me maintain healthy eating habits.
Some key features that make for a home away from home stay, in my experience include:-
Comfort and Cleanliness
A home away from home should have a comfortable bed and high thread count linen are a must. I want to get up in the mornings rejuvenated and ready to tackle the day ahead. The cleanliness of the accommodation is a non-negotiable for me. It really lifts my spirits when the accommodation is cleaned to the highest standard.
High-Speed Broadband
Having access to uninterrupted high-speed broadband ensures that I can do my business quickly and efficiently. It is super frustrating when the internet is slow and it takes 10 minutes to download all your emails. I tend to use the accommodation as a base and I need to stay connected with clients, vendors and my family. In the evenings, I, on occasion, like to watch a documentary or catch up on news and again access to high speed broadband and a smart TV is really helpful.
All Modern Appliances
Convenience is key when you’re away from home. There are certain appliances that are essential for me, these include dishwasher (as I dislike washing dishes), washing machine and dryer (save me hanging up and ironing clothes ), fridge, cooker, microwave, kettle and a toaster.
Shower
I personally prefer to shower than bath so a good power shower is really a must for me.
Flow & Design
The flow and design of the apartment is important for me. I love ample light and the ability to open windows. I don’t mind open plan living but each area needs to have a designated space such as kitchen, living area, bedroom and bathroom.
